Just a thought that came to my mind. For starship voyage to Mars, instead of filling up each and every starship with a full tank. Elon can create a mother starship that will or can carry a cluster of four starships . These four starships only need fuel for landing and taking off from the surface of Mars and then the mothership has enough fuel to take her back to Earth.

As a petroleum engineer, I had to wrinkle my nose when you called it an oil rig. The thing in the picture is clearly a drilling rig, it is meant to dig holes in the ground, not to suck up any oil. Edit: Oh, what you see at 9:30 is an oil rig with the flame burning (called flaring) for burning off excess gas. So the oil rig at 9:30 is not the ENSCO 8500.
I think heat tiles should be layered. Similar to how a roof tile is done. The 1st layer, against the stainless steel, could be much thiner and be there as a precaution/backup in the event the main front thicker atmosphere touching layer failing.

In 2019 a Falcon 9 booster had to divert and land in the ocean. The booster had almost no damage as a result. Why doesn't SpaceX test the Starship prototypes by landing in the water so they aren't completely destroyed if they fail? Once they perfect the landing velocity then move to landing on hard surfaces?

Once we've passed these preliminary tests, I'd like to see a starship take off and land in adverse weather. After all, the goal is to send some 100 ships to Mars, can't just tell everybody that they can't land bc it's too windy!!
@Inigo Montoya two reasons. Noone ever built huge rockets. And second - you don't have living space on Mars. You can't live on the surface due to radiation. But the more interesting question is why bring lots of people there? What is the purpose?

@Rebecca Edwards after a second review, you’re probably right. Seems a stretch however to be concerned about a landing on Mars. It isn’t eminent as the attempt to land on Earth for these tests. However if there was a sandstorm on the red planet, I’m sure no one would recommend landing but either wait it out, or land at a more calm alternate spot.
@Rebecca Edwards Rovers are fine. There were rovers on Mars before and you can send new ones. You can even send a small crew. That is still possible but highly unlikely. But you can't send hunderds of people there. No way.
