Perseverance Rover’s Descent and Touchdown on Mars (Official NASA Video)
NASA's Mars 2020 Perseverance mission captured thrilling footage of its rover landing in Mars' Jezero Crater on Feb. 18, 2021. The real footage in this video was captured by several cameras that are part of the rover's entry, descent, and landing suite. The views include a camera looking down from the spacecraft's descent stage (a kind of rocket-powered jet pack that helps fly the rover to its landing site), a camera on the rover looking up at the descent stage, a camera on the top of the aeroshell (a capsule protecting the rover) looking up at that parachute, and a camera on the bottom of the rover looking down at the Martian surface.
The audio embedded in the video comes from the mission control call-outs during entry, descent, and landing.

Thanks NASA
It wasn't live. It was like 15 minutes after the fact. Rostie acted like she landed it herself.
Sadly, the rover will NEVER return to earth with samples of Mars. Just images. Perseverance will forever remain a resident of Mars. Now Just imagine should the rovers power fail. It will become instantly ancient. 🤣🤣🤣

Salvation is NeAr, the element of ReAL happiness is coming out from mARs, but I hope that extreme temperatures 20K km up from earth don’t burns out the miraculous element. That would be a shame... XYZ
Mars is frozen . How to worm it up in my lifetime? we should try bombig it to see what is under. gg
Congratulations Perseverance team!
nasa please please stop whatch the martin and watch the earth there is 90of earth stil unknow...
I bet they found a Canadian and a Haitian person there.
That is so cool :)
there was supposed to be an Earth Shattering Kaboom
This is how it's done Elon.
Is that real??? wow
Just......WOW!
I just wondering, what kind of atmospehre is on mars to make it possible the parachute works
the atmosphere on mars is mostly carbon dioxide and is a lot thinner than earth's atmosphere
похоже на русло реки
Aren't the feed they're looking at are about 5-20 minutes delay from Mars to Earth? So everything we see are automated by Perseverance itself?
There was no real-time video of the EDL. The rover recorded the various EDL videos and downloaded them to Earth a day or two after landing. The Mission Controllers had basic telemetry to tell them what stage of the EDL the rover was executing, but no capability to affect the outcome. The rover executed the EDL autonomously.
I watched this vedio more than 40 times till now and I don't know how many times I will watch again.
3:09 lol
So why, if there is nothing to hide, have we not had a lander land even remotely close to the so called face in the cydonia region? Why are there no (released and unaltered) new images of this location? Why with all the different orbiters? Aside from the treachery of Michael malin? Anyone???!?
Да американский джигити молодци нет слов
The landing is extremely well executed. WELL done NASA.
i like
good...spacial
Its a really happy moment for them....my dream is to get into nasa
you guys should impact some ice meteors on mars
Yasss! It's never a matter of having the technology. But applying the technology.
why crane was needed ? why couldn't it just land and let the rover roll, like the traditional way ? i thought it was going to land on the smoother terrain, but it landed on the rockier part though.
they can’t use the airbags. The rover is too big for them.
PROUD TO NASA SCIENTIST....
Awesome, congratulations to NASA and JPL and every person involved in this amazing achievement 👍
Baby steps, but looking amazing NASA!
This is a memory i'll never forget. Epic doesn't even do this justice!
2:42 sure making a mess
QUESTION: Why wasn't Perseverance made of modular units, whereby the onboard cameras unit separate from the main lander and follows the rover from a far enough distance to capture its journey on the surface of Mars? just saying
What an amazing milestone to reach
Nasa i question what if apophis is gonna hit earth please im only 9
02:04 flash..?

I want to talk to the 6,500 people that down voted this.
it’s not reddit
I wonder if that thing has a license plate? It should have one with a NASA reference of some kind.
That one guy's mask was below his nose though....
Yes 👍
По-моему это Фейк, как можно заправить топливо на 7 месяцев, как?
landing a space craft with a parachute, how yesterday?!!
That's humanity's next stop. First the moon next Mars
3:13 "...seeking the sands of past life"
seeking the seands of past life
I tried searching this on google but i couldnt find any question, my question is how did they send this video from mars to earth? And how long did it take aproximately. Also is this the first real video we have from mars?
@Steve Adams Great reply thank you. so if i understand correctly there are sattelites orbiting mars? that is crazy dude
The EDL videos were recorded by the rover and then downloaded to Earth about a day or two after the landing. The rover uploads data to one of the Mars orbiters and then the orbiter relays it to Earth via the Deep Space Network (DSN). I don’t know how long the actual transfer took. I’m not sure if this is the first ever video from Mars, but it is the first video of EDL.
I'd be so much more for these missions if they'd stop 'justifiying' them with the 'search for past life' that was never there. GO FOR CONQUEST. All that other 'maybe' 1 in a nada chance nonsense is bad investment.
Nice
ISRO - like NASA - Comment
Yeaaaaahhhhhhh, eeeeeeeeeeehmmmmmmm....naaaaaaaaaah....GTFOH!!!
Mars is flat, flat earther rejoice. Mars is flat therefore earth is flat too.
Huh?
These camera angles are amazing. Never thought I'd ever see a live footage of a landing on Mars
Bravo NASA!
Wow, Mohan must've been sweating hard while landing!
Unbelievable
Congratulation to all NASA workers
Dear Marsians.. we come in peace.
Unbelievable 😂 you think they could make it more realistic I’ve seen better production on thunderbirds
this is millions of miles away
😆 nutcase
太狂了吧
Why no show mars vedio
@Liam L Earn it.

Wow just like in the movies!!! Well done NASA!!
J'ai écris mon nom sur mars voilà c'était tout pour moi
That bit where the parachute opens and it's a blue sky but it's not Earth was goosebumps.
its amazing to think perseverance is one of the last rovers to land on mars before humans arrive
wow just wow!
Devon Island looks great as ever!
Yep with its...polar ice caps...Martian dust...millions of miles of land
im sure devon island has craters and a river delta
This was taken on Earth.
Nah it was taken on Saturn
Nah it was taken on the Sun
craters on earth?
Actually it was taken on the Moon, and I have at least as much evidence as you do.
Good Job NASA
Ur memmorry know humen.tacke irons.bactieriya pollllleeee3

I’ve been to Nevada and didn’t get to see the polar ice caps and gargantuan craters
Nevada has polar ice caps??? Nice!

Incredible! I could only imagine what the sky crane looked like for Curiosity, this is even more sci-fi than I ever imagined!
Good job!
Yo Supongo que aparecerán los conspiracionistas y dirán que esto no es cierto, que todo fue grabado en un estudio en Inglaterra. 🤦🤦🤦
Hiii
Rover: lands Skycrane: Aiight, I'mma head out.
NASA - We send Perseverance rover to conduct more detailed research on Mars. Perseverance rover - "Where are you Curiosity? I got extra batteries for you!!!"
NASA, you guys are a joke. You brag about the quality of your cameras and you have the audacity to provide grid obscured photos which obscure any clarity whatsoever. Be honest or stop wasging everyone's time.

CONGRATS!

I'd like to see it land from the angle of earth with a high powered telescope ..more so on the moon I think that would look so cool watching a ship leave earth all the way to the surface of the moon none stop
If we are looking for signs of life in a planet, just compare it to earth. One is its gravity.
wow yes
and after this amazing footage they proudly present audio record of 2 gusts of wind from mars
Yes because that's what there was to record at that particular moment in time.
YEET
Brigita baštúrova
too young to explore the earth and too old to explore the starts, perfect age to make fun of flat earthers!
The look on their faces!
