    8. noel ondole

Great so what happens when your charge runs out on a motorway at speed or even in a traffic jam when there is no hard shoulder and there is some huge juggernaut bearing down on you. Electric cars are not eco friendly to produce and their batteries have a lifespan of around 10 years. They are also far too expensive. My 1993 Rover 214 is still on the road after 28 years and still in excellent condition. I don't think any of these will last as long. There will be piles and piles of electric cars just waiting to be scrapped. Meanwhile the government will be rubbing their greasy palms together from the increased taxation on electricity - which we use to heat our houses with. Electricity is a necessity but petrol is not.

    9. Simon Handy

Why do you insist on doing a range test of an electric vehicle on a motorway, which has virtually no start stop and therefore virtually no regenerative braking. How could you ever hope to get anywhere near the manufacturers stated range doing that? Just how many journeys, as a percentage of all journeys are "go as afar as you can from point a without stopping, or breaks, or rests? These cars are designed around real world use and therefore optimized for the majority of use cases, not some small niche use case. It means that the people that do their twice weekly shop in it, or take the children to whatever activities they do, or do their twice a day 5 or 10 mile commute every day will almost never again have to visit a petrol station. For the twice maybe three times a year they go on the family holiday, or the wedding at the other end of the country, or they might have to think about where they will stop and take a break. But most people will do that with sat nav on. The children will need a break every 2 hours, the driver should take a break every 2 hours. A stop with children all using the toilet and looking at the magazines in the shop can quite easily take more than 20 minutes, unless you have a sergeant major for a Dad. To put it bluntly; your test is flawed. If you're testing the manufacturers' claims, your test is flawed as you are not performing the same test they do. If you're trying to get a real world range, your test is flawed as your driving is not typical of real world driving. You need to put away your ICE thinking where efficiency was all about steady state, minimum throttle and start thinking about EV design, where start stop is the most efficient, because it's been designed that way, because it's been designed around real world driving.

It must be nice to sit at a charge station for an hour and a half, while at a gas station it is 5 minute if the service is slow.

The honda interior its remind me with my old Civic wonder in Indonesia😁

    47. Andre Fontes

the honda's interior and the renault's range. that would be great.

    48. The Anorak channel

Our current car gets just over 300 miles on one tank of petrol which costs £50 to fill. That is mixed town and a significant amount of motorway driving. None of these cars on our current electricity tarifff would cost more than £7 to top up. Therefore I’m assuming that I’d get a whole tank of petrol for £15 tops! What’s not to like? I wish you’d included the MG ZS EV, as I’d love to know what the real range of that is. It boasts 163 miles, but…

    53. chester ingosan

i wonder what sort of headaches these emerging EVs can be compared to problems we have with cp. like over heated chips, or can they die in the middle of driving, or will there be a chance when we have to turn the car on and off because it is experiencing some log, or a loose cable/charging port

    64. Diego Diegosovich

shame to peugeot and opel, shame.

    65. Umaxen 00

I'd make it illegal for a car company to sell an electric car that doesn't drive AT LEAST 200 miles. (320 km)

      1. Julian Paul King

I would make it illegal to drive on a motorway without more than 50km range remaining

    66. vicsie58

I was wondering if a car has two blocks or sections of battery. And two ports to charge it. Will it help in speeding up the charge time.

    67. Jeremy Banks

I'm gonna remember to roll down my window if my car's range falls below 10%

    68. Kevin Price

Hmm, electric cars are going to have to improve the battery technology a lot before I would consider them

    69. Andrew Whitnet

What does one do when it's minus 8 c and everything is frozen, how much does the heater use.Thanks.

    70. BigAl60504

Only idiots run out of charge....

    71. I d K

I’m sorry but that Honda is Rank!! 🤢 x

    72. speedmatters

      £30K For a 135hp Zoe?! No. I'll check-in when they are nearer to 20k.

    73. mrjrountree

Until electric cars are priced between 10-15k and can do between 300-600 miles on a charge, they are useless imo. Not obtainable for a lot of people.

    74. saxonsince81

      Who cares

    75. Widaro

That honda definetely has some VW dna i it, golf to be precise lol

    76. Nirmal Davis

      Where is Tata Nexon

    77. Theho Usholder

I can use everything on my car and it does over 400 miles on one charge of the tank even tho it’s automatic and constant 4x4 and there’s places everywhere I can get a recharge of my tank , wonder how HGV’s boats ships and helicopters and planes are going to get on 🥴

    78. Vidar Ekblad

It would be intresting to see the range in -20 degree

    79. Cindy Lawrence

The would perform better with, well, let's see, something reasonable...like a Sonny's 1000 or something like that.....

    80. Svein Hanssen

      What? No MG? :-)

    81. Boony

*Pfff* I can't bring myself to buy a car with electric steering after my ''petrol powered Peugeot'' steering started to lock for 2-4 seconds on bends/corners, heart stopping stuff! O_o i'd been doing 80+ from london to birmingham in the rain not even 10 minutes before it happened for the first time. New ecu & all sorts of replaced sensors later i ran out of patience hair & money.

    82. Cosens-Prior

Not very helpful really. None of these cars have a practical useful range. If you want to drive 300 miles to Scotland you'd have to make stopovers to re charge and the journey would be quicker by coach or train. If your sat nav sends you on a wrong turning you run out of power miles from anywhere - so useful.

      1. yvs 666

ever heard of rapid charging? most of this cars would add about an hour to the trip. now unless you travel 300 miles in one direction every day, i don't see how that is that big of a deal.

    83. Alex Taylor

      4:40 pathetic wasnt it

    84. Xanthus Chew Theng Shinn

where is the smart forfour eq and bmw i3?

    85. Patrick Hodson

29k for a tiny Honda??? You'd have to be mental.

    86. Michael Fuze

      Great review!

    87. George F.

You could've included an VW id3 in there...

    88. George F.

the design of the honda is stunnin'

    89. WHO

wait a minute... its the same guy driving all the cars and hes talking to himself on the walki 😂

    90. Phil PRT

32:43 : As a french, the invective from this old man really made me laugh. Love the franco-british rivalry

    91. spelare 1

      Aptera: *laughs*

    92. mike clark

No one ever says how far they will go with a full car - 4 passengers / baggage .lights on ,heater on stop and start traffic . They only say one driver no baggage ect -What bloody good is that ?

    93. Fuzed Elemental

i like how they say it’s a hot day outside and i’m like: “that’s only 87.8 degrees fahrenheit. that’s cold!” a hot day for me is like 123!

      1. readysaltedsomething

One difference: in the UK we have no air conditioning inside.

    94. Craig Jones

      No E golf or id3 🤔

    95. Lee Boyce

Love the show but your driving on the motorway using a walkie talkie is that not the same as a mobile don’t get banned now lol

    96. Tom Smith

At those prices they will never take off , it’s ridiculous, and the price of the batteries is beyond all credibility...I can’t see them ever replacing a conventional car at those inflated prices..So it doesn’t matter how good or bad they are because they are just unaffordable..Now in years to come if the prices fall and the range is improved then yes they will very probably become the norm..

    97. Jonny 7

My thoughts exactly, great performance but would never buy a French car.

      1. Jonny 7

@Sarang Tambe I wondered how long it would take for someone to reply. There is nothing wrong with French cars in fact they make some of the best looking cars on the road as my wife says during our business road trips, it’s just that I’m a patriot and would not buy from any car company so close to home. Even though most Uk based car companies are foreign owned a fair proportion goes back into the Uk economy. Please do not take my comment as a insult on the French car industry.

      2. Sarang Tambe

Why?What's the problem with buying a French car?

    98. Inacio F. Marques

      You missed the MGZS

    99. System11 YT

So only one of these cars is capable of doing one of my work journeys that can be required in 15 minutes notice, if it's kept fully charged all the time.

    100. Random Guy 2.0

Can’t you do this one but with suvs?
